About Us

Just a Girl and Her Goats…

What began as a way to step away from the computer screen turned into a fundraiser — and then, before I knew it, a full-fledged business. That's the beauty of following something you love. Welcome to Herd, where every bar of soap and bottle of lotion is made with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of goat milk.

The Human Herd

It started with just Alyssa — a girl, some goats, and a dream. Family pitched in from the beginning, lending hands and encouragement whenever it was needed. Recently, the family grew a little bigger: Alyssa is engaged, and her fiancé and his two amazing boys have jumped in wholeheartedly. Her fiancé is her biggest supporter and has taken on the unofficial (but very official) role of head of sales, marketing, and making sure product deadlines actually happen. It truly takes a village — or in our case, a herd.

Meet the Goat Herd

Our little farm is home to a growing herd of Alpine and Alpine-Kiko mix goats, each with their own personality. At the heart of it all are our two steady milk goats: Luna, the OG, and her first daughter Daisy. These two are the reason our soaps are as nourishing as they are.

We recently welcomed two new Alpine beauties, BB and GG from Rainbow Colors — high hopes for these girls! The rest of the herd is still proving themselves, and we love watching them grow into their potential.

And then there's Molly. The littlest goat. Rejected by her mama at birth, Molly became our first full bottle baby — hand-raised, endlessly loved, and now the undisputed family favorite. She even comes camping with us. Yes, really.

Farm-Fresh Milk, From Our Girls to You

We source our goat milk fresh from our own herd right here at our farm between Bedford and Everett. Goat milk is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids that are gentle on skin — making it the perfect base for handcrafted soap. When you use our products, you're getting the real thing: milk from goats we know by name.

How We Make Our Soap

Our soaps are made using the cold process method — a traditional soap-making technique that preserves the natural goodness of every ingredient. We combine our farm-fresh goat milk with skin-loving oils and butters, then let each batch cure to create a hard, long-lasting bar that's gentle enough for even sensitive skin.

Every bar is handcrafted in small batches, which means more attention, more care, and a better product for you.

What Makes Our Products Special

We believe you shouldn't have to choose between effective and clean. That's why our products are:

  • Made with natural ingredients — no fillers, no shortcuts
  • Phthalate-free and paraben-free
  • Handcrafted in small batches for quality you can feel
  • Made with farm-fresh goat milk from our own herd

We've also recently added a cocoa and shea butter lotion to the lineup — goat milk-free on this one, but just as luxurious and nourishing for your skin.

Our Farm & Community

We're a small family farm located between Bedford and Everett, and we're proud to be part of our local community. This business grew out of a fundraiser, and that spirit of giving back has never left us. When you shop with Herd, you're supporting a real family, a real farm, and real goats who are very much loved.
